St. Michael’s parish was established in 1975 in Jenkintown, PA as a result of a generous contribution of parishioners who mortgaged their homes in order to purchase the property where the church resides today. St. Michael’s Church is the only Ukrainian Catholic Church in the Philadelphia area that follows the Julian calendar, and is an integral part of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Outside of the mission of spiritually serving its parishioners, St. Michael’s parish partners with other Ukrainian catholic, orthodox and humanitarian organizations to support the vibrant Ukrainian community of Philadelphia. The parish is also proactive in providing humanitarian support to Ukraine during challenging economic and political times.
The number of people visiting “Mychailivka” continues to grow, which is especially noticeable during the holidays and festivals when the church property is flooded with cars and jubilant crowds.
